Bathroom Plumbing Guide

Your bathroom is one of the rooms in your home that gets the most active use. This mean that the plumbing system in your bathroom undergoes a lot of regular wear and tear. You should learn how to take care of the plumbing system in your bathroom in order to avoid problems. Here are some of the things you should understand about bathroom maintenance, so you can be sure you are doing everything you can to keep things running smoothly:

Take care of your aerators and showerheads

You want to be sure to take proper care of your sink faucet(s), bathtub faucet and shower faucet. You want to have leaks repaired as soon as you spot them, so you avoid further damage and the waste of a lot of water. You also want to keep the aerators clean by removing the aerator by turning it counterclockwise, take them apart, soak them in water and vinegar and use a toothbrush to scrub them. To clean the head of the shower, you need to use an adjustable wrench to twist it free. Use water and vinegar with a toothbrush to clean the showerhead as well.

Take care of your toilet

If your toilet is running, then you want to replace the ball and/or flapper. These are easy to replace as you just take off the old ones and put on the new ones to go in their place. If you go to flush and find that the handle won't flush the toilet, the chain may need to be replaced if it has snapped. If your toilet seat starts to move or it has a crack in it, you want to be sure you purchase the right size seat and replace the old one with the new one. Use the new bolts that come with the seat, so you know all the parts are new and strong.

Take care of the drains

The best thing to do in order to care for the drains in the bathroom is to make sure you don't put anything you shouldn't down them. Don't flush anything besides toilet paper down the toilet, put screens in the sink and tub drains to capture and collect hair and don't use harsh chemicals for cleaning. If you have a clogged drain, put some baking soda and vinegar in the drain so it foams up and works the clog out. Then, run some water down the drain for a couple of minutes.

About Me

Creating A Cleaner Home

Oftentimes, when people think about cleanliness and sanitation, they overlook the importance of well-draining pipes. Unfortunately, if you aren't careful, plumbing can cause more problems than you could ever imagine. I started thinking carefully about different things that I could do to make my home a little more sanitary, and a few months ago I decided to create a cleaner home by having my pipes carefully inspected. They were hopelessly damaged, but within a few days, the plumber completely overhauled the entire system and things were moving along a lot better. This website is all about creating a clean, sanitary home that you will love.
